There is lots of talk now about the benefits of locally grown and organic food. Better for the environment, better for your health, better for farmers, better for the local economy and all that. But where can you get it?
www.localharvest.org will let you know. Enter in your zip code and you can find a list of farmer’s markets, CSA’s, co-ops, stores, and restaurants that have local, organic food.
I’m off to get my CSA (community supported agriculture, in case you didn’t know) basket right now from South Coast Farms in San Juan Capistrano. I can’t wait to see what I am getting this week. I know there will be a basket of fresh organic strawberries grown by farmer George, and I am going to pick up some locally baked bread too. For those of you in South Orange County, you can contact South Coast to learn more about their CSA program and farmstand. www.southcoastfarms.com
