Holiday Giving

This year, instead of going to big-box stores and buying lots of stuff of questionable quality and environmental impact, why not get presents for your loved ones that make a positive impact on our world?

I will highlight some options over the next few weeks.  Take a look around where you live and try to find more ideas.  There are lots of alternatives to toys and gadgets that will likely be discarded by the next holiday season.

A fun website to start your search is Etsy.com.  This site features individual “stores” by people who hand-make everything they sell.  By shopping here you are supporting artists, stay-at-home-moms, college students, and other creative Americans.  Many of the items are made in an environmentally sensitive way, and you can even search for shops in your area to support your local economy and save on shipping.

Be careful though, you can spend hours on Etsy finding treasures!
