Sponge Balls

What kid doesn’t love a water balloon fight on a hot summer day?

Unfortunately, filling up a bunch of balloons just so your kids can pop them is not only time-consuming, but all those broken balloons are not good for the environment.  Besides, balloons are a major choking hazard, they can fit right on the airway and make a perfect seal, and the heimlich maneuver isn’t very effective.

Here is a clever alternative from the Queen of Clever Ideas, Martha Stewart (or more likely, someone who works for Martha.)  Use biodegradable kitchen sponges to make sponge balls.  Then give each kid a container of water and let them go at it.
