Lemon Water

Here is a quick and easy morning ritual to get your day started on a good note.

Squeeze a lemon into a cup of just barely hot water and drink. The water should be hot to the touch, but not so hot that it will burn you if you gulp it. You don’t want to destroy any of the enzymes in the lemon.

Start with half a lemon and either work your way up to a whole lemon, or do like I usually do and drink two cups with a half a lemon in each. You can easily save the other half for the next day by placing it face down on a small plate and storing it in the refrigerator. Make it even more potent by adding a few strips of zest if your lemon is organic. You can zest the entire lemon and freeze the zest for future culinary adventures.

Hot lemon water is a great way to start the re-hydration of your body first thing in the morning. It gently detoxifies the liver and gets your digestive system ready for breakfast.
